MRI magnets:
MgB2 technology is now used in MRI applications to reduce investment and cooling costs and simplify operation by raising the operating temperature. The use of MgB2-based magnets bypasses the need for a cryogenic coolant, reducing dimensions, servicing costs and refill time. Cooperation between Columbus, ASG and Paramed has led to the introduction of a new generation of cryogen-free, “open-sky” MRI systems. With its unique U-shaped design, the MrOpen represents a new generation of “Open-Sky” MRI systems. The patient claustrophobia that is a problem with conventional MRI scanners is virtually eliminated by removing all barriers between the patient and the surrounding environment.
